Permits Issued for 2146 North front Street in Norris Square

2146 North Front Street via L&I.

Permits have been issued for the construction of a four-story, three-unit multi-family building at 2146 North Front Street in Norris Square. The building will feature commercial space on the ground floor and a roof deck with an access structure. In total, the structure will span 5,445 square feet. Permits list a construction cost of $544,500.

The structure will feature a modern exterior similar to other new projects popping up along the corridor. Two doorways will be located at the ground floor, presumably one for residential purposes and another for commercial. Brickwork will cover the majority of the facade, with additional detailing featuring between floors and above windows. Floors two and three appear to have small Juliet balconies.

The new structure will replace a vacant lot, the latest of many disappearing along this stretch of Front-Street. With the Market-Frankford Line running directly in front of properties and this corridor’s more generous zoning, Front Street has become one of the most major hotspots for development in the city. Countless small to mid-scale developments can be seen rising along the thoroughfare, with many more planned in the pipeline. The frequent transit access and walkable surroundings make for highly desirable residential spaces, and the increasing commercial presence at street level simply continues to strengthen the surrounding neighborhoods.

No completion date is known for the project at this time.

  1. I love all the construction going on in this area, but north of Palmer I feel there are not many restaurant options. I’m not expecting it to be as abundant as Fishtown, but more dine-in options along Front St would be nice to coincide with all of the new housing.
