Demolition permits have been filed for a vacant two-story rowhouse at 4012 Aspen Street in the Belmont neighborhood of West Philadelphia. The structure, located near the corner of Aspen Street and North 41st Street, is under the ownership of Pinckney Alvin J. Gamma. Wrecking Inc is the contractor listed for the demolition.
According to the documents, the prewar building will be demolished using manual means. The single-family structure, which spans a 660-square-foot footprint, appears to have been damaged by a fire some time between late 2018 and late 2019.
The site is located around the corner from Lancaster Avenue, a busy thoroughfare and a vibrant commercial corridor that carries the 10 trolley and the 43 bus. The 31 bus runs along Aspen Street. Half a block to the east of the property, the Belmont School spans most of its block with a playground taking up remaining space. The Community Preschool sits half a block to the south.
