Construction is progressing quickly on a six-story, mixed-use structure at 3700 Lancaster Avenue in University City. The building, which is part of the multibillion-dollar uCity Square megaproject, is rising on an angled lot that was formerly home to the University City High School. The development will add 463 residential units and retail to the growing Lancaster Avenue and University City. The structure will hold 304,907 square feet of residential space and 13,856 square feet of retail space. Plans also call for 157 parking spaces for residents’ use.

Renderings show a modern and sleek structure. Balconies will jut out over Lancaster Avenue and the facade will maintain a mostly gray color. The size of the building will help serve as a buffer between the forthcoming high-rises and the surrounding neighborhoods.

The site is located in the heart of University City, one of the largest employment centers in the area, and sits directly adjacent to the route 10 trolley on Lancaster Avenue and a short walk away from the 34th Street Station on the Market-Frankford subway line.

Construction is well underway, with the foundations complete and steel steel framing for the ground floor partially assembled. At this pace, progress should move along quickly.
