Permits have been filed for the demolition of a two-story single-family dwelling at 5639 Carpenter Street in Cobbs Creek, West Philadelphia. The prewar property is located between South 56th Street and South 57th Street. The building will come down as part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program, with a cost of work of $14,632. The property is owned by Miaphi Properties LLC and the contractor listed for the work is Thomas Curran.
The building features a covered porch, a white painted brick façade, and a siding-clad bay window on the second floor with deep projecting awnings. Once the demolition is completed, stucco will be added to the exposed walls at 5637 and 5641 Carpenter Street along with and erosion control mat with seed on lot and sidewalk replacement.
Mastery Charter School Harrity Elementary and Christy Rec Center sit a block to the north and Sherwood Park is located a block to the south on Baltimore Avenue. The 34 trolley and the G bus stop within a two-block radius.
