Permits have been issued for the construction of a four-story, 31-unit mixed-use structure at 2155-61 North 2nd Street in Norris Square, North Philadelphia. Designed by Harman Deutsch Architecture, the project will include a ground-floor commercial space spanning 2,300 square feet.

The design draws ties to the area’s industrial past. Brick is the primary material, with gray panels between the windows and at other prominent sections of the façade. A cornice sits atop the building’s four stories, providing a traditional framing to the design.

The development will replace a two-story industrial building that features a tan façade with windows on the second floor as the only source of natural light. In September of 2019, demolition permits were issued for the rundown structure.

The site is located in the heart of the neighborhood, one block away from Norris Square Park, which provides ample outdoor space for the community. The York-Dauphin Station on the Market Frankford Line sits within a seven-minute walk.

No completion date is known, though the building may be finished by the end of 2022.
