A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has confirmed that construction is complete at a three-story single-family building at 1801 Memphis Street in Fishtown. The structure replaces a vacant lot on the eastern corner of the intersection of Memphis Street and East Montgomery Avenue. Designed by KJO Architecture, the building spans 2,149 square feet and features a roof deck. Permits list Urban Renewal Builders as the contractor.
The total construction cost is specified at $234,000, of which $200,000 is allocated toward general construction, $15,000 for plumbing work, $10,000 for mechanical work, and $9,000 for electrical work.

The development sports an unusually sophisticated exterior for a single-family dwelling, boasting a facade of shifting rectilinear planes of white, gray, and red-brown brick, siding, and panels. The unabashedly Modernist may clash with prewar rowhouse ensembles to either side, yet it makes for a distinguished centerpiece for the oblique corner and pays subtle homage to its neighbors with its material and color palette.
The Berks Station on the Market-Frankford Line is located within a seven-minute walk to the northwest, while Fishtown’s primary commercial corridor along North Front Street and Frankford Avenue is situated within a roughly ten-minute walk to the southwest.
