Update 7/17/2023: A representative for The Durst Organization has shared the following statement regarding the development:
While it is accurate that some work has been done in recent weeks on site, that work was completed to physically secure the site and preserve as many options as possible for the location. Further construction at the site is not planned at this moment. Durst values its relationships with our neighbors, elected officials, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation and other key stakeholders.
We will continue to work with our partners on this matter in this spirit of honesty and transparency.
Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit has observed that foundation work has started at the site of a a 315-foot-tall, 24-story high-rise development at 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties. The development will span nearly an entire city block, bordered by North Christopher Columbus Boulevard to the east, Vine Street to the south, Water Street to the west, and Callowhill Street to the north. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by The Durst Organization, the 316-foot-tall tower will feature 10,094 square feet of ground-level retail as well as a new public park as part of the development. The site is located on the Delaware River waterfront a block to the north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, on the border between Northern Liberties to the north and Old City to the south.
When YIMBY last visited the site last September, excavation was underway at the site. Upon our most recent visit, we discovered that some foundation work has apparently been completed in the site’s central section, although minimal work has been done around the rest of the property. The Durst Organization unfortunately postponed the venture in the past year due to market concerns, with little detail as to when or if significant construction progress will resume. Ideally, this date will come sooner rather than later, as the hundreds of residential units, retail space, and park will all be very welcome additions to the property.
The development spans nearly an entire city block, bordered by North Christopher Columbus Boulevard to the east, Vine Street to the south, Water Street to the west, and Callowhill Street to the north.

Durst shelved this project months ago.
OMG! The mystery is palpable. Why someone would invest all the resources into the planning, architectural renderings, site acquisition;
Regulatory impediments and even ground breaking, only to “postpone” for “market concerns” is just baffling. Hmm. Any thoughts?
The usual pump and dump hype for EVERYTHING that is proposed at or near Penn’s Landing. This cr_p has been going on since the 1980s and will for decades to come. SAD!
