Philadelphia YIMBY’s recent site visit has confirmed that construction work is complete at The Standard At Philadelphia, a 209-foot-tall, 19-story residential tower at 119 South 31st Street in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by CUBE 3 and developed by Landmark Properties, the 362,117-square-foot structure rises from a narrow, through-block lot stretching between South 30th and South 31st streets, and houses 280 residential units.
The project’s official website states that they “offer a number of unique floor plan options, ranging from cozy studio apartments to spacious six-bedroom layouts. Each of our apartments boasts modern upgrades, such as quartz countertops, luxury vinyl tile flooring throughout, spacious common areas, gloss cabinets, Internet, cable, and more.”
Although notably shorter and more stalwart than the nearby glassy towers of Cira Centre South, The Standard’s horizontal-massed form nevertheless makes a distinctive contribution to the local skyline. The tower’s main entrance, located on the west side, opens onto green space in a pleasant, pedestrian-friendly manner. The important contribution that it makes to the neighborhood, of course, is its significant addition of new housing, which is generally geared toward the students of the many nearby universities.
