Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit has confirmed that construction work is complete at a four-story, five-unit multi-family building at 2628-32 Webster Street in Graduate HospitalSouth Philadelphia. The development rises on the southeast corner of Webster and South Taney streets, near the Schuylkill River. Designed by Designblendz, the building will span 9,795 square feet. Permits list Michael Treacy as the contractor.

Construction costs are indicated at $1.4 million, with $999,075 allocated toward general construction, $210,000 for mechanical work, $146,925 for electrical work, and $44,000 for plumbing.

The finished building closely resembles the rendering. A dynamic facade features varying types of apertures and cladding materials that visually break down the building’s bulk and harmonize effectively with an overall patchwork appearance of the varying architectural styles and facade palettes on the block. White-paneled sections with large windows make for visual centerpieces on either corner.

  1. As confused as the architecture is, it could have been more contextual and calmer if the masonry areas were red like the neighbors, so it would appear that the modern corner emerged from the long row of red facades.

  2. This is absolutely hideous and I agree with the comment above…though that would be a lipstick on a pig solution to a truly grotesque thing that should have never been brought to light.

  3. A perfect designed building to finalize the corner of the street imo. 👌

  4. Like the final results. I wish they would (and could) plant a couple of trees.
