A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has observed that excavation work is underway at 1916 Bainbridge Street in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia. Designed by Mass Architecture Studio, the new building will rise four floors, contain three residential units, span 4,915 square feet, and feature a roof deck.
The plain, lime-colored two-story prewar rowhouse that previously stood at the site has been demolished, and a partially excavated pit spans the property. Diagonal bracing supports the two adjacent rowhouses.
Route 17 and 30 buses stop near the property. The Lombard-South Station on the Broad Street subway line and the Schuylkill River Park are situated within a 15-minute walk to the east and to the northwest, respectively.

This excavation damaged the home to the right, being declared imminently dangerous by L&I. Ironically the green home that stood here was damaged and demolished due to the construction of the house to the left of this one. This time the damage appears to be stabilized
Damage to homes adjacent to construction sites occurs all too often. And with appropriate care, it’s an avoidable problem.
“The plain, lime-colored two-story prewar rowhouse that previously stood at the site has been demolished…” Yes, and so has the street tree. On a leafy Graduate Hospital block.
I hope somebody saved the corbels from the old house!
Yes, I agree.

The city administration has allowed Yimby to destroy the texture of Philadelphia for years now. 3 & 4 story houses on 2 story blocks. Shameful
