Permits have been filed for the construction of a multi-family building at 2966 Richmond Street in Port Richmond, Kensington. The property is located a block between Ann Street and East Indiana Avenue. The building will span a 2,400-square-foot footprint. At the end of last year, permits were filed for the demolition of the three-story residential structure that is currently on site. The property is owned by 2966 Richmond Associates. The contractor listed for the demolition work is Mangual Demolition Inc.
According to documents submitted to the city, the new attached building will feature a roof deck with two pilot houses. The building will join a block-long row of three-story prewar structures.
The property faces the Fort Richmond Veterans Park, which appears to be a community-run green space at a berm by the overpass of the Delaware Expressway. Five short blocks to the northwest is the Powers Park located at 2965 Almond Street, which sits adjacent to the Richmond Library. Richmond Elementary School, Aramingo Square, Cohocksink Recreation Center, Campbell Square, and General Pulaski Park at the Delaware River waterfront are all located within a 20-minute walk.
