No progress has been made yet at 619 North Broad Street in Poplar, North Philadelphia, an 18-story building that will replace the single-story Bright Horizons Family Solutions structure and the adjacent parking lot. The proposed building will rise to a height of 275 feet, ranking at number 30 on Philly YIMBY’s December 2020 Development Countdown of proposed and under-construction buildings. Designed by Varenhorst and developed by KFA Investments, the building will be a standout neighborhood feature, along with the nearby Congregation Rodeph Shalom at 615 North Broad Street, and is expected to cost $60 million.
During Philly YIMBY’s recent visit, no signs of demolition have yet been observed at the site, however the Bright Horizons Family Solutions daycare that currently occupies the site is closed.
The only sign of progress is the partial dismantling at the playground and the removal of a small structure south of the parking lot, which was likely used for maintenance and mechanical space.
The stretch of North Broad Street north of Center City has seen several major proposals in recent years, the tallest of which being Mural West at 523 North Broad Street.
No completion date has been announced yet, but the building may be finished by 2022 or 2023.
