Permits have been filed for a renovation and one-floor addition at 1914-20 South 7th Street in the Wharton neighborhood of South Philadelphia. Located between Hoffman and Dudley streets, plans call to renovate the interior of the structure with a commercial space on the first floor and ten residential units above. With the addition of a fourth floor, the building will stand as the tallest on the block and yield a total of 11,658 square feet. Construction costs for the project are estimated at $1 million.
In addition to extensive interior renovations, the exterior will likely receive a facelift since it currently appears as a featureless gray shell adorned only with the original prewar cornice.
The site sits close to multiple bus lines, and the Snyder station on the Broad Street SEPTA line is situated within a fifteen-minute walk to the west. Ford Playground sits several short blocks to the south, and Bok Dog Park is located within a similar distance to the west.
