Demolition permits have been filed for a three-story structure and an adjacent yard at 911-913 Catharine Street in Bella Vista, South Philadelphia. Naccarato Anthony F. and Naccarato Kathleen A. are the listed owners.

The site is located at the northwest corner of Catharine Street and narrow, alley-like South Percy Street. The building at 913 Catharine Street stretches deep into the property, leaving no room for a rear yard, and features an L-shaped addition in the rear that also bears the address of 734 North Percy Street. The structure’s footprint spans 1,134 square feet. Together with the adjacent front yard at the corner at 911 Catharine Street, enclosed with a six-foot-tall masonry fence, the property totals approximately 1,800 square feet.

At the Catharine Street front, the building‘s facade, with red brick at the ground floor and white siding covering the floors and cornice above, nearly matches that of its neighbor at 915 Catharine Street. The yard-facing wall, the rear wing, and the masonry fence all sport applied beige stucco with a rectangular pattern. Overall, the prewar building’s extensive renovations have left it with little if any architectural or historic value, and its loss will not adversely affect the predominantly prewar block.

Bella Vista is a centrally located neighborhood just to the south of Center City. 911-913 Catharine Street sits a block south of a large outdoor sports complex, three blocks south of the bustling commercial corridor at South Street, and within a roughly 15-minute walk of the Lombard South station of the Broad Street SEPTA subway line.
