The Summit House Nears Completion at 610 Summit Avenue in Jenkintown

Completion approaches at The Summit House, a four-story, 64-unit residential development at 610 Summit Avenue in Jenkintown, a municipality located just to the north of Philadelphia. Designed by Kitchen And Associates, the project will include a commercial space and 64 parking spaces, both located on the ground floor, and will feature affordable senior housing. Tester Construction is building the structure.

The stately structure utilizes a variety of materials to create a design that stands out within Jenkintown’s downtown area. The ground floor is clad in white stone, with multi-colored brick spanning the second to third floors, and a mansard-style façade with dormer windows at the fourth floor.

Exterior work is nearly finished, with blue construction wrap present in a few small patches. The design came to fruition just as the renderings suggested. The only crucial portion of the design that has yet to be completed is the small balcony section of the structure at the far left corner in the picture, which will soon be covered rust-colored cladding.

The building sits just a block away from Main Street, which hosts a variety of restaurants and shops. Buses and the Jenkintown-Wyncote SEPTA Regional Rail station offer transit options, with the latter located in an under-five-minute drive from the development and offering frequent service via multiple express and local lines stopping at the station.

I’d love to know of the deal struck between the historic Summit Baptist Church, a largely African American Church and the developers of the Apartment bldg. Is there ownership stake? Outright sale of the land? Where did the church and it’s constituents go? I knew members in that church. Interesting story.

Me too! Searching for months (now 10/21) for updates (small pets allowed?), Grand Opening & application process details
(Perhaps subsidized by HUD/LIHTC w/ restricted income range similar to Ingram Senior properties?)
    Eager to move…

  4. tripcrwn73@gmail.com. I sent an email in reference to making an appointment to see the building and apartments.Very interested!!

  5. I too am interested in this facility, and would like to know more. So far, I haven’t gotten through to anyone by phone call or voice mail. Considering this is a new property, and we’re still dealing with Covid, I’m sure they’ve had some unexpected issues. Hoping for contact soon.
