Construction is progressing at The Birch at 51 Washington Street in Conshohocken. Developed by LCOR, the project will stand five stories tall upon completion. A total of 304 residential units will be situated within the structure. The project will be going through going to a zoning hearing today to seek permission to include the project’s name in the structure, which can be seen on the renderings shown in the article.

The building will boast a modern façade upon completion, with a mixture of different colored cladding being used on the exterior. Gray cladding will primarily be used, with blue-cladding also consuming a large portion of the surface area. White cladding will be used as an accent in prominent locations, accompanied with wood-colored cladding at balconies. The overall blend of materials used will be sure to allow the building to stand out from its perch on the Schuylkill Riverfront upon completion.

In YIMBY’s last update back in August, excavation was underway, with dirt moving in the site to begin digging foundations. Since then the project has progressed significantly, with excavation now complete and foundation work underway.

The first concrete pours have occurred on the site, leaving a large concrete pad as well as concrete columns at the site. Mobile construction cranes have also been moved to the site, the first signs of the buildings’ future vertical rise.

The building will rise adjacent to the further-ahead Matson Mill, which YIMBY shared an update for recently. Between the two developments, nearly 600 residential units are rising, which will significantly boost Conshohocken’s density around its lively downtown core. The new residents will help support the many businesses and restaurants in the town. Transit access is located just steps away from the project to Regional Rail via Conshohocken Station, which YIMBY recently shared in an update.

No completion date for the project is known at this time.
