Construction is progressing rapidly at 314 South 46th Street, a 25-unit multi-family development in Garden Court, West Philadelphia. The project involves the renovation of an existing historic church structure as well as the construction of a new addition. In total, the project will consist of 25 residential units. The church will be mostly preserved as it stands today, with no major changes made to the exterior. The new addition will provide a pleasant contrast to the design with gray brick and wood paneling.
In YIMBY’s last article on the development, ground had just been broken and excavation was underway at the site of the future addition. Much more progress has been made since that time.
By now, the new building has now topped out and framing is well underway. Apertures have been formed to prepare for eventual window installation, and plywood covers exterior areas that will be eventually covered with façade materials.
Construction progress has come at a rapid pace, suggesting that exterior work will likely be well underway or even completed by the end of summer.
No completion date has been announced, though construction may be finished by the end of the year or in 2022.
