Permits have been filed for the demolition of a vacant two-story rowhouse at 4557 North Camac Street in the Wyoming neighborhood of North Philadelphia. The property is under in the ownership of Anna Terry Widow. Thomas Curran is the specified contractor for the demolition. The cost of work is listed at $15,421 and includes the replacement of the sidewalk and addition of stucco to the future exposed lot walls at the two adjacent properties.
The boarded-up structure will be town down as part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program, making it likely the result of a condemnation, reinforced by several on-file violations, including a recent one listing the structure as “imminently dangerous.”
The building matches the style of rowhouses that line both sides of the street and dates to the prewar period, likely to the turn of the twentieth century or earlier. The structure features a deep covered porch, a bay window at the second floor, and a cornice. Most of the original buildings are still present on both sides of the block, and almost all are presently occupied.
Broad Street runs three blocks to the west, with many businesses, shops, and restaurants situated along the 13-mile-long street that leads straight to Center City. The extensive Huting Park sits a block to the south.
