Permits have been filed for the demolition of a vacant two-story prewar rowhouse at 2548 North 28th Street in Strawberry Mansion, North Philadelphia. The former single-family dwelling will be torn down as part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program at a cost of $15,000. BGN Enterprises LLC is the listed owner. Pedro Palmer Construction Inc. is the listed contractor.
The boarded-up building features a brick façade, a covered porch, and a bay window on the second floor. As part of the work, once the demolition is complete, stucco will be added to the adjacent wall at 2550 North 28th Street. Also as part of the work the lots at 2442 and 2544 North 28th Street will be cleaned and graded.
The 48 bus stops at the corner of West Huntingdon Street and North 29th Street, located two short blocks to the west of the property. Less than a block to the north of the property is the Rudolph Walton School, a vacant historic structure. Widener Library sits four short blocks to the north. Three long blocks to the south is the Strawberry Mansion Health Center at 2840 West Dauphin Street. One block to the east of the Strawberry Mansion Health Center is the Richard R. Wright Elementary school, located at 2700 West Dauphin Street.
