Foundation excavation is nearly complete at 2222 Market Street, where a 20-story structure will soon rise. Designed by Gensler and developed by Parkway Commercial Properties, the glass clad building with stone highlights will replace a 21,000-square-foot parking lot. The 329,100-square-foot building will stand around 300 feet tall, adding a substantial amount of floor space to Center City West.

Foundation Work Underway at 2222 Market Street in Center City West

Foundation work is underway at 2222 Market Street, a 20-story, 282-foot office tower and number 24 on Philly YIMBY’s December 2020 Development Countdown. Designed by Gensler and developed by Parkway Commercial Properties, the project is located in booming Center City West. The bulky tower will feature 329,100 square feet of floor area, 4,274 of which will be devoted to two retail spaces. The office component of the project will measure 324,826 square feet and will offer 47 parking spaces. Spaces for 14 bicycles will be located at the rear of the tower, with ten more at the western edge of the property.

Foundation Work Starts at 2222 Market Street in Center City West

Foundation work has begun at 2222 Market Street in Center City West. The 305,000-square-foot office building will rise 318 feet and 20 stories, with the law firm Morgan, Lewis, Bockius LLP as a tenant leasing the entire floor space. The structure, developed by Parkway Commercial Properties and designed by Gensler, features a blocky design with staggered sections. While the building is not going to drastically impact the city skyline, it is a significant development for the rapidly-growing neighborhood. The parking lot that spanned the site until recently has already been torn up, and excavation and drilling equipment is currently at the site.

Market Street Fills Up as a New Proposal at 2222 Market Street Prepares for Construction in Center City

As reported in the past, the stretch between 21st and 23rd streets in western Center City West will soon be elevated with many new towers in the 300-400-foot range. While many of the new proposals were released recently, 2222 Market Street, which was revealed last year, could be on its way up soon. Developed by the Parkway Corporation, the office building will rise to a height of 318 feet and 19 stories and will be mostly leased by the law firm Morgan, Lewis and Bockius.

Checking In On Philadelphia’s 2020 Skyline

The city of Philadelphia has been booming recently with skyscrapers and buildings of all shapes and sizes. While most of the new buildings have been proposed and built in Center City, the skyline is extending in all directions. The skyline made its first significant leap across the Schuylkill River back in 2005 with the 437-foot, 29-story Cira Centre; now, the area boasts three towers over 400 feet all within a few blocks of one another. The district may soon add a new supertall at the site of Schuylkill Yards, as seen on SHOP Architects renderings from 2016 (though the tower has been excluded from recent renderings).
