Permits have been issued for the construction of the Thomas Jefferson Specialty Care Pavilion at 1101-53 Chestnut Street in Market East, Center City. Developed by National Real Estate Development, the structure will rise 364 feet and 23 stories tall, becoming the tallest addition to the neighborhood in more than three decades. The interior will hold 750,000 square feet of space, most of which will be allocated for medical use by Jefferson Health. The structure is part of the two-tower East Market Phase 3 complex, which is the latest extension to the multi-block East Market development. The 1,004,000-square-foot structure is currently the city’s largest single proposed building in terms of floor area. A few days ago, the development team of Commercial Development Company, Inc, Blue Rock, Bohler, and NORR submitted a revised Civic Design Review package, which shows design changes that deal mainly with landscaping at the 140-acre site and the way the facility will relate to the surrounding residential neighborhood.

A permit has been issued for the construction of a four-story structure at 6552 Germantown Avenue in Mount Airy. The building will consist of 10 residential units. It will have easy access to the Chestnut Hill West regional rail line and fronts the busy and frequent 23 bus route. The current site houses a once-attractive row of three homes with vacant retail spaces on the first floor. Those structures are now crumbling and are are possibly no longer salvageable.
