Permits have been filed for the demolition of a two-story prewar rowhouse at 5446 Media Street in Hestonville, West Philadelphia. The property is located on the south side of a short block between North 55th Street and North Conestoga Street. The single-family dwelling will be coming down as part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program. The cost of demolishing the 1,200-square-foot structure and the associated work will be $15,963. The property is owned by Jo Ann Bryant. The contractor for the project is Thomas Curran.

The structure’s brown brick façade, heavy-set stonework, and ornate trim appear to be in good condition, in contrast to the visible dilapidation observed on many buildings removed by the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program. The work also includes adding stucco to the future exposed walls of 5444 and 5448 Media Street as well as an erosion control mat with seed on lot and replacement of the front sidewalk.

The 10 trolley runs one long block to the north and the G bus stops three short blocks to the west. Costenoga Park, Baker Playground, and Mastery Charter School-Shoemaker Campus at 5301 Media Street all sit within a five-minute walking distance.
