Permits have been filed for the construction of an attached single-family structure at 2139 North Reese Street in the Norris Square neighborhood of North Philadelphia. The building will replace a large vacant lot covered with grass and trees. The plot is located on the east side of the block located between Edgley Street and North Susquehanna Avenue. The property is now owned by North Reese Holdings LLC.

The new structure will span an 806-square-foot footprint and will feature a roof deck with a pilot house for access.

The site is part of a larger vacant lot that spans most of the block. At the moment, only three rowhouses stand on the entire block, with three more across the street. A prewar church was demolished at the south end of the block some time between late 2018 and late 2019. However, one of the aforementioned rowhouses was built during the same time period, with several more to the east, pointing to a real estate resurgence in the neighborhood. The site sits within the general area of Temple University, located within a 15-minute walk to the west.

Just one short block away from the property is the McKinley William Elementary School at 2101 North Orkney Street, which teaches students from kindergarten to eighth grade. Two city blocks to the south of the property is Cousin’s Supermarket, a major food retailer that supports the neighborhood.
