Permits have been issued for the construction of a new townhouse complex at 1914-50 North 8th Street in the Temple University area of North Philadelphia. The project will consist of seven townhomes. Each is expected to rise three stories tall and cost $230,000 to build, with 1,665 square feet of space will be offered within each home.

The new homes will be replacing  a vacant property string  that have been reclaimed by nature. The properties have sat idle for so long that a variety of full-grown trees now stand, giving shade onto a large portion of the area. The remainder of the space is occupied by overgrown weeds and grasses. No fence barricades the lot from the street.

On the block the new homes will stand on and in the surrounding area,  many new town-homes have been constructed in recent years, with many branded as affordable housing. These projects have brought back the area, which was almost entirely vacant, and has added density in a transit-supported section of the city.

The Temple University Regional Rail station sits just a few steps away from the future homes, while slightly longer walk brings riders to the Broad Street Line at Cecil B. Moore Station. Additionally, Temple University is also located very close to the homes, and is one of the largest employment centers and economic drivers in the city.

No completion date is known for the homes at this time.

  1. Close proximity to allot of fast food venues including allot of pizza places to choose from.

Within walking distance to Berks Street, less than a mile (0.8 to be exact) from the Berks Street station of the Market-Frankford Line.

You can take the SEPTA route 3 bus on 7th & Berks to Front Street to transfer to the Market-Frankford Line.

You can also take the SEPTA route 3 bus on 7th & Berks to the Cecil B. Moore/Temple University station of the Broad Street line.

FUN FACT: The Cecil B. Moore/Temple University station was originally the Columbia station before it was renamed many years ago.

  2. I’m interested in your 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom, and how much.
