The Drexel College of Nursing and Health Professions is shaping up to look like its renderings as the exterior approaches completion. The building, which is also known as the Wexford Drexel Academic Tower, is located at 3601 Filbert Street in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by Ballinger and developed by Wexford Science & Technology LLC, the structure rises to a height of 12 stories and 185 feet. The remainder of the facade with brown glazed glass and metal highlights will be installed in the near future.
In the previous update on the project, we saw the finish of construction of the steel structure. The building was topped out earlier in June, and facade work was just starting at the time, with many the exterior panels placed on the south face and a singular panel on the east side of the building. Fireproofing was well underway, rising up to the ninth and tenth floors.
The interior remains partially open to the elements, as the glass is still working its way up to the top. The cladding currently rises nine stories above the ground, with the ground floor still not clad. The structure is now just about entirely fireproofed, as the top two levels of the building are covered with tarp on the inside of the building, with the external beams already coated. The two large cranes that built the structure are still attached to the building, but may come down in the next few months when the facade is nearing completion.
Completion is expected in May 2023.

Very interesting design!
Congratulations to the West Philadelphia skyline for such a gem (It’s going to look great if it resembles the rendering). 🙂
