A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has revealed that construction is complete at a four-story multi-family structure at 2807-09 South 11th Street in Marconi Plaza, South Philadelphia. The development spans 6,588 square feet and contains six residential apartments, as well as a roof deck and parking space. Permits list construction costs of $900,000.

Located on the east side of the block between Johnson and Bigler streets, the development replaces a single-story garage nestled among two-story garages. The new structure imitates the materiality and scale of its neighbors via a two-story front section clad in red brick; a four-story section clad in horizontal white and gray siding rises at the lot interior. Though the material choice for the taller portion is puzzling, the street-facing brick is attractive.

The structure stands in one of South Philadelphia’s southernmost districts, several blocks to the east of Marconi Plaza Park and the Oregon Station on the Broad Street Line. Despite its relatively remote location, the property sits within a ten-minute walk of destinations such as the Live! Casino and Hotel, as well as the city’s stadiums, to the south, and the Whitman Plaza shopping mall to the east. The Interstate 76 aka Schuylkill Expressway runs two blocks to the south.
