A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has observed that construction work is nearly complete at The Keystone, a seven-story, 220-unit residential building underway at 417 Callowhill Street in Northern Liberties, Lower North Philadelphia. Designed by Bernardon, the building will be situated just to the north of Old City and will offer apartments ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments, 29,980 square feet of amenities, and an extensive roof deck, and parking for 71 cars.

Also known as417-25 Callowhill Street, the building rises at the northeast corner of Callowhill and North 5th streets, just across from the elevated ramps of the I-95/I-676 interchange. The project is one of a number of developments that are bringing a much-needed, long-overdue transformation to the sprawling, forlorn commercial and industrial district that spans most of southern Northern Liberties (aka Cohoqinoque). In the coming years, the area promises to become a dense, vibrant district with active pedestrian life and ample ground-level retail.

True to the design seen in the latest renderings, the building stands largely complete, with most of the work apparently left to complete at the interiors as well as at the ground level. The structure’s intriguing sloped roofline makes for a distinctive presence on the streetscape.

Congrats Bernardon. The rooftop social deck is especially appealing, partly open air and partially protected from the elements by the fanciful fins.

From adult nursing care to youth playground.

    • “Youth Playground” LMFAO! Have you ever met the kind of people that move into these douche bag storage lockers? They’re slow witted, boring, hyper normal, and temporary. Much like you.
