Demolition Permits Filed for 3724 North 13th Street in Hunting Park, North Philadelphia

Permits have been filed for the demolition of a two-story rowhouse at 3724 North 13th Street in the Hunting Park neighborhood of North Philadelphia. The prewar building was once a single-family residential structure that has sat vacant for some time now. The building is located close to the intersection of North 13th Street and West Airdrie Street. The Redevelopment Authority of Philadelphia is the listed owner and the project is a part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program. Pedro Palmer Construction Inc. is the contractor. The work is projected to cost $13,500.

The rowhouse, which features a deep covered porch, a red brick façade, and a cornice, matches its neighbors on the block. The demolition job also includes replacement of the sidewalk, new stucco to be applied at the to-be-exposed wall, and wrought iron column to support the porch roof of the adjacent building at 3726 North 13th Street. It also includes a 32-foot-long, six-foot-high gated chain link fence spanning the site of the demolition and the adjacent vacant site at 3722 North 13th Street, where a similar rowhouse was demolished some time between 2014 and 2018.

At the south end of the block runs West Erie Avenue, a busy street carrying the 53 and 56 buses. The Erie Street station of the Broad Stret SEPTA line sits two blocks to the west. Two blocks to the south on Broad Street is the Shriners Hospital for Children of Philadelphia, and a block further is the Temple University Hospital.
