Construction is progressing rapidly at BrüBox, a five-story, 33-unit mixed-use development at 3120 Jefferson Street in Brewerytown, North Philadelphia. Designed by Coscia Moos Architecture and developed by Khosla Properties, the project will feature a commercial space on the ground floor and studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Tester Construction is the contractor.
The project features a modern design that will stand out from its surroundings. Renderings show black cladding throughout the structure, with white cladding covering staggered, boxy cantilevers. Small balconies are located at the tops of some of the cantilever projections. Parking will also be situated at the ground level.
Construction has made significant progress. The building has long since been topped out and stands fully framed and outfitted with windows. Façade installation has also begun, with gray cladding already in place on the blank wall at the rear of the structure.
The area of Brewerytown where the development is located has been booming in recent years, thanks to zoning that allows for the construction of large multi-family developments. Well over one hundred units have recently been completed in the section, with more than 200 still on the way. The new retail space will add vibrancy to the area, which is rapidly becoming a dense neighborhood focal point. The development is only a few blocks north of the commercial corridor at West Girard Avenue, which also offers access to the route 15 trolley.
Completion is expected in the third quarter of 2021.
