Permits have been filed for the construction of a four-story apartment building at 2051-77 Ridge Avenue in the Cecil B. Moore neighborhood of North Philadelphia. Alternately addressed as 2051-2077 Ridge Avenue, the filing calls for a total of 33,830 square feet of floor space, with ground-floor commercial space and 27 residential units above. Permits list Philadelphia Housing Authority as the owner and Ernest Bock & Sons INC as the contractor for the project.

The lot once housed three three-story prewar rowhouses, all of which were demolished around 2017. Since that time, the vacant dirt lot was used for parking. The planned building consists of a one-story steel podium on the ground floor and three floors of modular construction above. An estimated $6.2 million will be spent on construction.

The site is located at the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Jefferson Street, within a short walk to the Route 15 trolley on Girard Avenue as well as to the Broad Street SEPTA line. Though Sharswood experienced a dramatic population decline in the postwar period, the neighborhood is seeing an uptick of development in part due to the explosive growth of nearby Francisville, Brewerytown, and the Temple University area.
