CHOP’s Roberts Center Phase 3 Awaits Construction at 730 Schuylkill Avenue in Schuylkill Grays Ferry, South Philadelphia

At number 19 on Philly YIMBY’s December Development Countdown is CHOP’s Roberts Center For Pediatric Research Phase 3, a 350-foot-tall, 21-story tower proposed at 730 Schuylkill Avenue. The building is a part of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s four-tower master plan in the Schuylkill section of Grays Ferry, South Philadelphia. The site sits directly to the southwest of the 375-foot-tall CHOP Roberts Center for Pediatric Research at 734 Schuylkill Avenue, which was completed in May 2017. Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, the architect for Phase 1, is likely to be the designer for the new tower.

CHOP Hub For Clinical Collaboration Arrives on the Skyline in University City, West Philadelphia

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is adding yet another building to a high-rise medical services cluster taking over the southern part of University City. The CHOP Hub For Clinical Collaboration is a 377-foot-tall, 19-story building located at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard, designed by Perkins+Will, which will add 560 beds to the hospital. While the tower’s height will significantly alter the part of the skyline located in an area limited to under 400 feet, the more than 550,000 square feet of floor space will make a big impact on the area and the city.

CHOP’s Roberts Center for Pediatric Research Phase 3 to Rise 350 Feet in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is in the process of a $3.4 billion expansion in West and South Philadelphia. The latest proposed structure is the Roberts Center for Pediatric Research Phase 3, a 350-foot-tall tower planned at 730 Schuylkill Avenue in the western section of South Philadelphia’s Graduate Hospital neighborhood, which is also known as Schuylkill Grays Ferry and Devil’s Pocket. The new structure will stand as a fraternal twin to the first phase of Roberts Center, a 375-foot-tall building completed in 2017. Project information remains sparse, but the design will likely be led by the office of Pelli Clarke Pelli, which designed the first phase.
