Permits have been filed for 1328 South 31st Street in the Grays Ferry neighborhood in South Philadelphia. The lot, located seven properties away from the corner of Reed Street and South 31st Street, is owned by Shawn D Thomas.
The documents state that the new construction will be an attached building replacing a fenced-in grassy lot with trees soaring over the neighboring properties. The new structure will include a roof deck and access, which will allow the single family to observe fine views of the Philadelphia skyline when looking to the northeast.
The block the property is on mostly consists of two-story single family homes, many of which have an interesting brick pattern near the top. The neighborhood features many such structures, as well as many empty lots covered with vegetation. Though the neighborhood is generally quiet, it sits very close to the Schuylkill Expressway. The closest access point to the expressway is via the South Street Bridge, which stands just 7 minutes away from the property.
