Permits have been filed for the demolition of a vacant two-story prewar rowhouse at 2341 North Opal Street in North Philadelphia West. The former single-family dwelling is located between West York Street and West Dauphin Street and will be torn down as part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program at a cost of $14,000. Bresneni Iancu Flavius is the property owner. The contractor listed for the work is Pedro Palmer Construction Inc.
The brick-clad building features an ornamental brick course beneath the cornice and two turrets. The entrance and ground floor windows are boarded up. After demolition, stucco will be added to 2343 North Opal Street next door, a six-foot high chain link fence will be erected along the front of the property, the sidewalk in front of the site will be replaced, and the adjacent vacant lot at 2339 will be cleared and graded.
The 39 bus stops a block to the south. The sits wits within a 15-minute walk to Temple University to the southeast.
