Permits have been filed for the demolition of a vacant two-story rowhouse at 2437 North Bancroft Street in Glenwood, North Philadelphia. The prewar single-family dwelling is located between West York Street and West Cumberland Street and will be torn down as part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program at a cost of $15,600. The property is owned by N&JB LLC. The contractor listed for the work is FH Demolition.
The brick-clad building features a decorated cornice with turrets on each side. The entrance and windows are boarded up. After the demolition work is complete, stucco will be added to the to-be-exposed walls of 2435 and 2439 North Bancroft Street next door. The sidewalk in front of the property will also be replaced by the contractor.
The 2 bus stops a short block to the east. Temple University sits within a 15-minute walk to the southeast.
