Foundation work is underway for first tower of the 14-acre Schuylkill Yards megadevelopment, located at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by the Practice for Architecture and Urbanism and developed by Brandywine Realty Trust, the building will rise at a total height of 361 feet and 28 stories. The skyscraper is also known as Schuylkill Yards West for its placement compared to the proposed skyscraper to the east at 3001 John F. Kennedy Boulevard.

By the time of our April update, excavation had just started as the parking lot at the site was starting to be torn up. In early July, the site was transformed into a pit that shaped the footprint of the building. Large piles of dirt were eventually transferred to the future site of Schuylkill Yards East.

Excavation was mostly finished by August and construction started for the foundation. The reinforced concrete mat is being assembled at the bottom of the site, with rebar being tied together for the future work to continue above, with a large red crawler crane situated above the pit. A mockup of the curtain wall has been erected across the street. The building is preparing to soon go vertical as the foundation walls are nearly complete, and the structure may be above ground by winter.
