A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has observed significant construction progress at a 149-unit mixed-use development at 1314-32 Spring Garden Street in Callowhill, Lower North Philadelphia. Designed by Volumetric Building Companies, the new building will feature ground-floor commercial space and a green roof.

How far will they have to walk to a subway station?
Less far than finding parking for your car.
Was this building plucked from a Paris banlieue?
Paris looks like Philadelphia! I saw two women bicycling 12 inches apart and they were close enough to kill each other but they arrived safely. Wonderful telecasts we enjoyed.
“Banlieue”- As in – one of the “NO-GO” areas of suburban Paris.
The subway station is about a half a block west of the front door. It’s the Spring Garden stop on the Broad Street Line.
It’s so good to FINALLY see that surface lot go away. Spring Garden east has so much potential and this starts to fulfill it. I remember when they were talking about putting a U-Haul type storage facility there. There was a lot of push back from the people who live on Nectarine behind it. I’m glad they did.
It’s one block to a subway station.
Good to see these perennially vacant sites infilled with cleverly designed buildings (including terraces!) and put to higher and better use.
1/2 A block from the Broad street subway line.
Who cares how close it is to the subway. Get a life weirdos.
People who use the subway care, but the people on here don’t live there so I see your point.
Please plant trees
Looks like the construction photos show a large tree…the renderings do not…sigh. -Jim
In not too many years, when the fad of tacky metal cladding has at last gone the way of linoleum floor tiles, passersby this monstrosity will wonder how it could have ever conceivably been considered attractive.
