Designed by Bower Lewis Thower Architects and Roger Stirk Harbour + Partners, the development will feature 448 rental units and three stories of retail. The 445-foot-tall, 32-story tower will make a dramatic impact on the Philadelphia skyline when viewed from numerous angles, while white and orange highlights will give the building a unique look. The building was developed by Midwood Investments and Development, which will feature three stories of retail and 448 rental units.

Thomas Jefferson Specialty Care Pavilion Rises Above Ground at 1101 Chestnut Street in Market East, Center City

Construction of the first few floors of the Thomas Jefferson Specialty Care Pavilion is underway at 1101 Chestnut Street in Center City. The building is a part of a project dubbed East Market Phase 3, which spans several blocks within the Market East neighborhood. Designed by Ennead Architects and Stantec and developed by National Real Estate Development, the tower will stand 372 feet and 23 stories tall and will feature a curvy exterior. The medical office building is part of the massive expansion plans that Jefferson Health is currently implementing in the area.

Permits Issued for 139 North 23rd Street in Logan Square, Center City

Permits have been issued for the construction of a 115-unit multi-family building at 139 North 23rd Street in Logan Square, Center City. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by the PMC Property Group, the building will rise four stories tall and will feature a roof deck with a green roof. In total, the building will hold 122,576 square feet of space. The developer was permitted to include the higher-than-standard unit count through the utilization of green roof and mixed-income density bonuses. A below-grade garage will hold 42 parking spaces. Construction costs are estimated at $35 million.

Permits Issued for 16-Unit Building at 3729-31 Lancaster Avenue in University City, West Philadelphia

Permits have been issued for the construction of a four-story, 16-unit mixed-use building at 3729-31 Lancaster Avenue in University City, West Philadelphia. The structure, located on the northeast site of the block between Powelton Avenue and North 38th Street, will replace two three-story prewar rowhouses. The building will span a footprint of 5,946 square feet and will contain 15,100 square feet of interior space. Of these, 875 square feet will be allocated to a ground level commercial space. The rest will be divided between 16 residential units, which will average around 889 square feet each. The structure will feature an elevator, space for six bicycles, and full sprinkling. Permits list Patricia V. Pierce and Christine Mueller as the owners, Brett Harman as the design professional, and Tester Construction Group LLC as the contractor. Construction costs are listed at $1.4 million.

A Look Back At The Unbuilt Park Tower In Center City

During its boom years in the 1980s and the 1990s, the Philadelphia skyline saw multiple tower proposals, many of which ended up not being built. Among these was Park Tower, located at 1501 Arch Street in Center City. Designed by Skidmore Owings and Merrill, the two-towered development would include a 32-story, 480-foot-tall building on Cherry Street and the shorter high-rise standing 230 feet and 18 stories tall. The buildings would feature facades clad in red brick and white stone cladding. Today Philadelphia YIMBY looks back at the development and how it would fit into the skyline.
