Permits have been filed for the demolition of a vacant two-story prewar rowhouse at 2459 North Patton Street in Strawberry Mansion, North Philadelphia. The former single-family dwelling is located on a block between West York Street and West Cumberland Street. The building will be torn down as part of the City of Philadelphia Demolition Program. The cost of work is $13,000. The property is in ownership by the Philadelphia Land Bank and the contractor is Pedro Palmer Construction Inc.
The building with a painted brick exterior and ornate cornice has sat empty and boarded up for over a decade. The project also includes the addition of stucco on the soon-to-be-exposed walls next door at 2457 and 2461 North Patton Street. The sidewalk in front of the property will also be replaced.
The stop of the 33rd-Dauphin bus is located nearby at York Street and 32nd Street. Two blocks to the north of the property is the concentric-shaped Dr. Ethel D. Allen School at 3200 West Lehigh Avenue.
