Construction is progressing at a three-story mixed-use building at 1208 North 29th Street in Brewerytown, North Philadelphia. The building will offer a ground floor retail space and six residential units. CANNOdesign is the architect and Grit Construction is the contractor. Mountain Rock LLC is the listed owner.

The building features a traditionally styled design, utilizing brick throughout the exterior. An attractive cornice with detailed brickwork will sit atop the structure and large industrial-styled windows will be located on the upper floors. The retail space on the ground floor will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor lighting.

The building is fully framed and the windows on the upper floors have been installed. Scaffolding has been erected for façade installation, which is slated to begin on February 17th. Windows still need to be installed on the ground floor and the interiors remain to be completed as well.

The building has replaced a two-story rowhome as well as a small vacant lot. The structure featured a white exterior, with light gray siding on the first floor and white stucco above. The site sits just off Girard Avenue, and will contribute to improving the commercial corridor and the surrounding area. The added density will help support local businesses while the retail space will boost the neighborhood’s walkability. The route 15 trolley on Girard Avenue offers transit access.

No completion date has been confirmed for the project.
