Architectural drawings depict a rectilinear three-story form with vertically aligned window openings across the front and side elevations. 1. A construction cost of $625,000 for an approximately 2,900 square foot home seems excessive.

    • Craig: There’s a residential permit for a similar but smaller house at 1938 Wharton Street. The $625,000 might be a combined total for 1938 and 1940 Wharton Street. If so, the subtotal for 1940 Wharton would be about $342,000 (based on 55% of the combined floor area in a proportional split). The subtotal for 1938 Wharton would be approximately $283,000 (45%).
