Earlier this month, Philadelphia YIMBY shared a selection of renderings for a four-story, 73-unit residential development proposed at 2201 East Tioga Street in Port Richmond, Kensington. Designed by Designblendz Architecture, the project will offer 62,825 square feet of residential space, as well as parking for 62 cars. Today we share an extended package of renderings, plans, and diagrams for the project, as seen in its Civic Design Review submission.

Last month, YIMBY shared the news of a four-story, 86-unit residential building being proposed at 448-56 Rhawn Street (aka 448-456 Rhawn Street) in Fox Chase, Northeast Philadelphia. Today we take a closer look at the development, which will rise across from the Fox Chase Station of the SEPTA Regional Rail. Designed by KCA Design Associates, the structure will contain 77,776 square feet of interior space and will offer 2,500 square feet of ground-level retail, as well as a garage with space for 48 cars and 30 bicycles.

Cleared Lot Awaits Development at 310-30 West Girard Avenue in Northern Liberties, North Philadelphia

Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit revealed no signs of new activity at 310-30 West Girard Avenue in Northern Liberties, North Philadelphia, where construction is anticipated for a seven-story mixed-use building. Although no construction permits have yet been filed at the 30,102-square-foot lot, which has sat vacant for around three years as of now, a proposal surfaced earlier this summer. Designed by T + Associates Architects, the development will feature 189 residential units, 10,330 square feet of commercial space, an underground garage with 65 spaces, and parking for 68 bicycles.

Murals and Development Part 2: YIMBY Looks Back at More Street Murals in Philadelphia

In the 1980s, faced with mass demolitions and urban blight marring its storied streetscape, the city of Philadelphia responded with a sustained campaign of mural-painting. Over the course of the next half-century or son, the community, both mobilized into organizations such as Mural Arts Philadelphia and with the help of independent local artists, many of whom were virtuosos that sharpened their skills in the city’s budding graffiti scene, has wrought thousands of pieces of street art, earning the city the moniker of the “Mural Capital of the World.” Such works range from dazzling tour-de-force masterpieces stretching many stories high to humble art pieces that may be easy to overlook at first glance yet were nevertheless crafted with just as much love and care. Over the years of Philly YIMBY’s coverage of urban development, we have come upon many murals large and small. Below we have collected a few mural exemplars as part of our second installment of our ongoing retrospective series.
