This Center City neighborhood, situated east of City Hall along Market Street, has seen rapid development over the past few years. The statue of William Penn has stood at the very top of Philadelphia City Hall in Center City for well over a hundred years, facing northeast. The large figure of the Quaker was crafted by sculptor Alexander Milne Calder, who also produced the smaller statues just above the clock house and around the entire building. The 548-foot-tall Philadelphia City Hall was designed by John McArthur Jr. and Thomas Ustick Walter, renown architects of their time. The Station at Willow Grove, a 275-Unit Mixed-Use Development in Willow Grove, PA, is Fully Leased

J.G Petrucci Co. Inc. and Petrucci Residential, the developers and owners of The Station at Willow Grove at 91 North York Road in Willow Grove, PA, have recently announced that the mixed-use development is now fully leased. Located four miles north of the Philadelphia city line, the five-story development holds 20,000 square feet of ground-level retail and 275 rental residential units. Construction costs were estimated at $75 million. The building sits across from the Willow Grove Station on the SEPTA Warminser Line, which offers direct commute to Center City. As such, the project is a positive example of dense, pedestrian-friendly development that should be encouraged throughout the area’s rail-serviced suburban towns.

Gas Station To Relocate For 20th + Arch at 2000 Arch Street In Center City West

A prewar-style gas station will soon be relocated off the site of the 20th+Arch proposal at 2000 Arch Street in Center City West, where construction could start soon. The proposal will add height and density which, while not significant for the skyline, will be imposing for the area. The vicinity of the site feels empty, even though skyscrapers stand the site just blocks away. The building was designed by L2P, which has crafted the previous iteration for the 12-story Wellshaus project at 918 North Delaware Avenue. The building will stand 15 stories above ground at a possible total height of 260 feet. The property is owned and managed by Parkway Commercial Properties, which also runs a number of parking lots in Center City.
