Demolition permits have been filed for a two-story detached house at 9065 Pine Road in the Bustletown neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia. The suburban-style house sits on a large, verdant property and likely dates to the prewar period. The plot sits close to the corner of Pine Road and Christopher Drive, about 400 feet away from the city’s western border. The property is under ownership of Neil H. Horner.

The structure, which was purchased in March, spans a spacious site with a deep backyard ample trees and green lawns. The building to be demolished spans a 1,500-square-foot footprint and features a façade of light brown stone, a gabled, shingle-clad roof with dormers at the second floor, and an attached garage.

The property sits in Bustletown, a neighborhood located in the western section of Far Northwest Philadelphia, 11 miles away from Center City. The low-density, suburban-style neighborhood features detached houses with ample space in between, with few businesses in the area. However, some quintessential urban services are present, such as the Montgomery Montessori School located at 1620 Pine Road two blocks north of the property. Lorimer Park, which runs along Pennypack Creek and features trails stretching across a large swath of land, sits within a short walk to the west.

  1. This is a postwar WWII home not meeting the needs of the family and renovations to an existing structure may not meet their needs so a teardown and new construction are most preferable.
