In October of last year, Philadelphia YIMBY published an extensive article covering developments that are under construction and proposed across the city. The visuals illustrated the future of the city’s skyline, coordinated in height in terms of placement of the new projects. Since, several new proposals have been revealed, a number of which will have an impact on the skyline. Today we present an updated version of the future appearance of the Philadelphia skyline.

In the next 10 years, the current trophy towers of the Philadelphia skyline will still be standing on top. As of now, The Laurel Rittenhouse Square, one of the tallest presently under-construction buildings in the city, will slightly block the Liberty Place towers from view from the South Street Bridge. The 3D model for Arthaus had to be updated as the first and second terrace had an extra level added on top of them after the unfinished design was revealed in the summer of 2019. Another model that was updated was 3151 Market Street, as the entire structure was shown revealing the building’s true form. Lastly, the model for 21M at 2100 Market Street was also revised as the official design was revealed, while the last model showed the building based off one leaked low-resolution image.

The block to the northeast of The Laurel Rittenhouse Square will feature two skyscrapers, each rising over 500 feet tall. Both towers will be overbuilds of currently existing buildings that have stood for nearly a century, located at 1826 Chestnut Street and 113-121 South 19th Street. Another overbuild will take place at 2300 Market Street, where the an extension will soon rise at least 200 feet tall.
