Facade work is nearly finished at Riverwalk South, a skyscraper that is under construction at 60 North 23rd Street in Center City West. The main portion of the structure is currently topped out at 32 stories, and the building will soon reach its full height of 362 feet. Designed by Gensler and developed by the PMC Property Group, the building, which stands next to the Schuylkill River, is part of the two-towered Riverwalk complex. The development is part of a new hub of high-rise buildings that will soon form a cluster along Market Street and near the river, with most projects featuring residential programming. The two new towers symbolize the new high-rise growth that is destined to dominate the area in the near future.

The first building, Riverwalk North, started to rise above ground in 2018, and topped out by May 2019. In the meantime, the core and beams for the taller south tower were formed. Construction resumed in August 2020, and residential floors were underway just before winter. The tower rose slowly at first, with the pace eventually picking up towards the top. The facade was underway by March of this year, with the tower eventually topped out in late June. The crane was taken off of the building by the middle of August, with more cladding installed.

The glass and metal exterior of the taller building now covers more than 80 percent up the entire building, with seven floors of cladding left to be installed. The new glass reflects the sky clearly, with dark gray metal shifting at angles and breaking up the mirrored sky. The building is seen from various angles to the south of the skyline core, as the building blocks the north tower. The set of towers come into dramatic direct view from both South Street Bridge and Spring Garden Street Bridge, while also popping up from West Philadelphia views.

Riverwalk South is scheduled for completion at the end of 2022.
