Cladding Nearly Complete at Arthaus in Washington Square West, Center City

The exterior is nearly complete at Arthaus at 311 South Broad Street, one of the tallest condominium buildings in Philadelphia. The new skyscraper, located in the Washington Square West neighborhood of Center City, rises to a height of 542 feet and 47 stories. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Dranoff Properties, the tower will feature 108 condo units and already makes a dramatic impact on the Philadelphia skyline, as it it situated in a prominent location close to various landmarks along Broad Street.

The groundbreaking took place in June 2019, at a site that once housed an old theater. The crane was erected in August and excavation was then finalized. The structure was rising from the ground by the beginning of 2020 and stood halfway up by October. The tower completely topped out in June 2021 as the steel was placed around the top slab at the parapet. Facade work has then continued as the structure was being closed up.

With every new visit, the tower looks more complete than before as the fresh materials deck out the modern skyscraper. Each face of the tower is clad in bright metal and blue glass, and the location where the temporary elevator was situated has been permanently covered with the curtain wall. The platform that was used to piece together the cladding has been removed, along with scaffolding on the roof. Most of the four-story podium is clad in glass and the brick cladding is one of the last portions of the exterior left to be finished. Decorative lighting has now been confirmed for the skyscraper.

The building’s anticipated completion will take place in May.
