Occupancy Imminent at Arthaus in Washington Square West, Center City

In Washington Square West, Arthaus at 311 South Broad Street has become the latest addition to the Philadelphia skyline. The nearly completed tower rises to a height of 542 feet and 47 stories and will feature 108 condominium units, along with ample amenity space and retail. The building, which stand somewhat apart from the main Center City skyline, was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, which has also crafted buildings such as the BNY Mellon Center and One Vanderbilt, and developed by Dranoff Properties.

In 2013, the original proposal dubbed SLS International Hotel called for a sleekerr design, along with a taller height and a challenging shape. Then, as the years passed by, no word on the project was revealed and the project was assumed dead. Six years later in June 2019, the design for Arthaus was revealed as the tower is now majorly condominium space. Though the height has decreased, the new version of the building brought a thicker and more elegant design with a distinctive exterior. The groundbreaking took place the same month as the reveal, and construction was planned to wrap in May 2022.

In our previous update, we featured recent looks at the new nighttime lighting on the pinnacle of the skyscraper. The exterior has been complete for about a month by now, as details are finishing up on the amenity space and ground level. On the Broad Street side of the building, the lobby can be seen as nearly complete, along with the entrance. The interiors are just about finished, as well, and a penthouse tour was held to commemorate the completion on April 27th.

The building is anticipated to be completed later this month, according to an on-site sign.
