BrüBox Completes Construction in Brewerytown, North Philadelphia

Last June, Philly YIMBY reported that construction was nearing completion at BrüBox at 3120 Jefferson Street in Brewerytown, North Philadelphia. Since that time, the five-story, 32-unit rental building, alternately spelled BruBox (without the umlaut), has been completed and open to residents. Designed by Coscia Moos Architecture and developed by Khosla Properties, with Tester Construction Group as the contractor the development spans 29,427 square feet and, according to permits, cost $5.15 million to construct. BrüBox offers residences ranging from studios to two-bedrooms and spanning 525 to 1,000 square feet and includes parking for ten cars and 11 bicycles.

Philadelphia YIMBY Features Increasing Number of Construction Blueprints in Publications

In order to further enhance the reader experience, at the start of the year Philadelphia YIMBY introduced a series of new categories that cater to specific classes of structures and topics, which we are covering in our ongoing “category spotlight” series. Moreover, we began to heavily feature architectural blueprints that have been submitted to the planning department for review. These project blueprints provide valuable insight into aspects of construction ranging from generally aesthetic to deeply technical, and are especially useful when no building renderings are currently available. For those looking to find recent project blueprints without browsing through Byzantine city record databases, we have created a dedicated “Blueprints” category, with a few examples listed below.

Philadelphia YIMBY Looks at Upcoming Projects With 10 to 50 Residential Units

Philadelphia YIMBY continues its “category spotlight” series, which looks at some of the new article categories we introduced at the start of the year. In the third entry of this mini-series, we look at new residential developments that we have covered so far this year that feature anywhere between 10 to 49 residential units. In general, the category consists of medium-sized apartment buildings that rise anywhere from three to five stories and some townhouse complexes, although there are a few exceptions, such as a very notable one at the Freeman Auction House overbuild. For more details on this proposal, as well as a selection of several others, please scroll below.

Fishtown Takes the 20th Place on Philly YIMBY’s First Anniversary Countdown

Philadelphia YIMBY’s month-long First Anniversary Countdown, which looks at the most frequently mentioned article categories over the course of the past year, makes it past the one-third-of-the-way mark as it finds the neighborhood of Fishtown at the 20th place, with a total of 40 category tags. It is hardly surprising to see this well-known, long-running development hotspot among last year’s top 20 most frequently mentioned categories. If anything, it is impressive that the increasingly built-out neighborhood is still churning out new development at such a consistent rate even after more than twenty years of steady growth.
