Permits have been issued for the construction of a four-story, 38-unit multi-family development at 2019-21 North 29th Street in Strawberry Mansion, North Philadelphia. The 36,654-square-foot development will include bicycle parking and a green roof. The project is expected to cost $4 million to build.
The building will replace a vacant lot, one of many in the neighborhood. A chain link fence surrounds the property, enclosing the narrow stretch of asphalt and a grassy lot. The project is located just off Ridge Avenue, a rapidly developing commercial corridor with many businesses and eateries. The added density will be greatly beneficial to the area.
Development is quickly expanding into Strawberry Mansion from the surrounding neighborhoods. Most of the development is rising the southeastern corner of the neighborhood, where many multi-unit projects are proposed. It is likely that the neighborhood will begin matching the high amount of development taking place in Brewerytown to the south.
No completion date is known yet, though the project may be completed by 2022 or 2023.
