The slender core of the 377-foot-tall, 19-story CHOP Hub for Clinical Collaboration has topped out at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia. The building is a part of a $3.4-billion expansion for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Designed by Perkins + Will, the tower will connect to the existing hospital structure.

In the last YIMBY update in December, the tower’s core rose just past the halfway point. The steel structure stood seven stories above ground. The tower was starting to appear on the skyline, blocking much of the CHOP Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care from view when looking from thge east.

Since that time, the tower has made significant progress. The steel structure stands ten stories and is now undergoing fireproofing on the first two floors of the building. Cladding installation is expected to start in the coming months and the structure will likely top out sometime at the end of summer.

  1. This is getting ridiculous. HUGE missed opportunity. This should be a supertall by right. Filled with supertall doctors. Curing supertall diseases. Until then, we’re wasting time.
